BANISHED WORLDS

A Space Adventure

About The Book:

Mīa Roberts former Federal Agent Guardian Class.

"What are we doing? What can I do?' Nathan asks taking his chair.

"Hold on," I instruct him.

"Hey, Mīa, that display looks like we're getting closer to the asteroid field."

"Yep, pool," I offer him.

"No, you can't mean what I think you do? You want to fly through the asteroid field to get away from them."

"Valiant Bay, Mountain Range here, you're going to die, change course," their radio operator advises me.

"Not the plan, Nathan. Math is one of my stronger skills. I can do the math in my head; speed, angle and trajectory."

"English on the cue ball, oh my god, are you thinking what I think you are?" Nathan's hands grip the chair arms hard.

"The table's full," I bank toward one of the large asteroids.

"You're going to damage this ship."

"You mean worse than a ship we can't pressurize because of the meteor strikes." I calculate its drift speed and our speed and angle and brush the asteroid, Valiant Bay shakes from the contact. The asteroid shatters and the fragments turn into hundreds of projectiles hurdling toward Mountain Range. It attempts to change course hard and as fast as it can, but it can't clear all of the asteroids turned into meteors. There are strikes all over Mountain's hull. Ports open all over Mountain Range with rockets firing wildly at as many of the speeding meteors as possible.

Valiant Bay bucks from the contact we are still flying and I change course for the next large asteroid.

"It's off the table you know," Nathan tells me.

"No, not at all, the math supports me. The asteroids are in a drift pattern, it's not the same as if they were on a course and flying with speed. They'd rip us apart then. As it is it's a bank shot," I grin at him.

"Not the asteroid pool, the offer to buy this ship sight unseen."

I clip the asteroid, sending it on its way in hundreds of pieces. We shake again harder this time. More strikes to Mountain's hull and there are explosions on the massive ship. Meteors impact it.

"What if the people in charge at NOVA SPACECRAFT COMPANY don't agree with you're option of canceling the deal?" Nathan looks at me.

"I'm NOVA, I own it. Nathan's On Vacation Again. I own the company. Only my partner and I know."

We bump the third asteroid and start it on course for the damaged Mountain Range ship. I look around at Nathan. "That's the secret you wanted to tell me earlier, you own NOVA," I laugh.

"Yes, and only my business partner and I know it. Even Parker doesn't know it. The offer is off of the table, if we survive this."

"Mountain Range is big and can clearly take a pounding, its atmosphere generators have to be stretched to their limits with the meteor shower we're giving them, but we have to hit them with more of the bigger stuff, Nathan."

"You're insane, Mīa. We don't have our atmosphere generators even on. Every bump you do on one of those asteroids goes straight to the hull, no protection, none."

"Nathan, I know that," I bank hard and aim for a really large rock. I dance Valiant Bay away after launching this large asteroid at them.

Mountain Range is tracking my course and turns their rockets toward the large asteroid, but it doesn't help much. Their weapons shatter it. The fragmented sections strike their atmosphere screens. The smaller fragments burn up like in a planets atmosphere. The larger sections impact their hull, ripping and damaging the ship.

"That one hurt them, look." I point at the display at his station.

"Mountain Range seems to be losing speed. I don't see port rockets firing any more, but their rail guns are still firing." Nathan points at our own engines power output. "I better check on our engines, can you crash into rocks without me up here?"

"Yeah, NOVA, go."

"Our secret, Princess." Nathan hurries from the bridge, and I convince a small group of asteroids to fly at the Mountain Range.

"Valiant Bay pilot, desist your attack. We'll destroy you if you attempt to attack us. Repeat. We'll destroy you, Valiant Bay." This message comes over the ship's radio.

I don't reply and set course for another large asteroid.

Their rail guns plot the course and fire at us.

I hear the rounds impact the hull. Nothing vital is hit and I nudge another space rock at them. I feel the hit on this strike. The vibration in Valiant Bay's handling is different.

"Princess, I've got fluctuations from main power. I can stabilaize it for now, but if you keep up the attack. . ."

"If I keep it up, we might lose power. If I stop, they might catch up to us. Nathan, I'm risking one more, then it's out of here as fast as we can."

I bank in for a large asteroid and bump it, change course, and move out toward open space. The display shows the large asteroid is on course, without getting addressed by the rail guns. It hits the atmosphere screens and the rock gets smaller, breaks apart and continues for the ship.

Mia is helping Harry with a little salvage operation, but things go sideways, don't they always?
